FOR KNIT-FOR-NOWT TERMS AND CONDITIONS CLICK HERE

By entering an item/items you are agreeing to these conditions

Before making your animal, please read the following safety rules:

  1. Anything you attach to your animal, be it eyes, ears or other features, must be extra strongly attached.  Please use strong thread, and sew over and over many times to be sure.  Safety eyes for stuffed animals are fine.

  2. Please ensure that any "hair" that is attached cannot be pulled out

  3. Very hairy yarns, such as mohair, which can be pulled out in tufts are unsuitable for our items

  4. Only stuffing which says it is specifically suitable for toys, and also has a BS or CE mark on the packaging may be used.  Trading Standards emphasizes that duvet or cushion stuffing is not allowed

  5. All stuffing must be fully enclosed and all seams firmly sewn together so that it can't get out

  6. Please be careful about the looseness of your stitches.  Worry animals and worry monsters need tighter stitching than garments, and even when carefully following the pattern, items can finish up in very different sizes, depending on what yarn and tension you use.  No stuffing must be visible or able to be pulled out between your stitches, as this is a choking hazard for very young children.

  7. Please check carefully that you've removed all pins

  8. No ribbons, cords or elastic longer than 23cm

PICK AND MIX - 9 'worry animals' patterns

Out of Covid has come collaboration.  Pick and Mix, designed by Mary, Val and Denise, is a series of 9 animal worry eaters, all based on the same body pattern.  Many thanks to Ruth, Mary, Vanessa, Elizabeth and Christine, some of whose animal patterns for Knit-for-Nowt inspired this "Pick and Mix"collection. For Vanessa, Elizabeth and Christine's animal patterns, please see below the Pick and Mix. And thanks also goes to all the recipients whose feedback helped us to know what would be the most useful in their essential work with children.

NB. Please ensure that your animal has a really good, deep pocket for the worry papers, thank you
